Over the last two years (between April 2009 and March 2011), 70% of the energy supplied by Opus Energy to our customers came from cleaner, low-carbon sources – 37% from renewable generators and 33% from cleaner Combined Heat and Power (CHP) produced by CHP generators.
Along with the power, the generator provides Opus with a certificate accredited by Ofgem, the UK energy regulator. This certificate, called a Levy Exemption Certificate, is only awarded where the generator has demonstrated that the power they have produced is either renewable or, has been generated in a cleaner CHP plant.
The graphs below show a breakdown of the renewable and low-carbon power that was supplied to our customers by type, and also by the country in which it was generated.

Wherever possible, Opus Energy plans to continue buying power from these renewable and cleaner sources.
